A mobile multi-story parking garage is an automated parking system that efficiently utilizes space. It combines horizontal movement of a loading platform with vertical lifting to achieve high-density storage and rapid access for multiple parking spaces. Its core operating principle is based on a multi-layered layout and an intelligent scheduling system, significantly increasing parking capacity within limited land areas.
This type of garage typically consists of a steel frame, loading platforms, transporters, elevators, and an intelligent control system. Upon entering the garage, a detection device at the entrance identifies the vehicle's license plate and allocates a parking space. A transporter (typically a comb or wheel-type) moves the loaded loading platform horizontally from the entrance to an available parking space. If the target parking space is on a different floor, the loading platform is vertically transported to the designated height by an elevator and then laterally transferred to the target space by a mobile transporter. This entire process requires no operator intervention; it relies on coordinated control by sensors and a programmable logic controller (PLC) to ensure precise synchronization.
The key technologies of mobile multi-story parking garages lie in independent layer operation and path optimization algorithms. Each floor is equipped with an independent transporter capable of handling multiple access requests simultaneously. Tasks are dynamically allocated through a central control system to avoid mechanical conflicts. For example, while a transporter on one floor is operating, equipment on other floors can continue to operate, significantly improving efficiency. Furthermore, intelligent algorithms use the shortest possible route to dispatch vehicles based on real-time parking occupancy, reducing wait times.
Compared to traditional lift-and-slide garages, flat-type mobile garages offer faster access times and higher space utilization. Access times typically exceed 90 seconds, and through vertical stacking and flat expansion, the number of parking spaces within the same footprint can be increased by two to three times. Furthermore, the fully enclosed design provides additional protection against dust and scratches, making it suitable for high-demand locations such as city centers, hospitals, and commercial districts.
In the future, with the integration of the Internet of Things and autonomous driving technologies, flat-type mobile garages will further develop towards unmanned and intelligent systems, becoming a key solution to urban parking difficulties.
